The Elvis Presley vaults have been opened numerous times over the years, tapping into the well of recordings the King did over the course of his iconic, lasting career — and now another trip to the archives has resulted in a new collection of songs.
Titled Where No One Stands Alone, the album is out today and features several gospel recordings from throughout Presley’s career, with new instrumental arrangements added to the pre-existing vocal tracks. In that way, it’s like the Beach Boys’ recent Abbey Road collection, and it makes for a tremendous, varied listen.
Elvis’ daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, appears on the album’s title track in a duet with her late father, which makes for a great tribute.
“This was his favorite genre – no question about it,” says Lisa Marie in her album notes. “He seemed to be at his most passionate, and at peace while singing gospel. He would truly come alive – whether he was singing just for himself and me at home, or on stage in front of thousands of fans.”
