Stream Johnny Marr’s Confident New Album ‘Call the Comet’ (New Music Friday)

Since forging out as a solo artist with 2013’s The Messenger, Johnny Marr has added to the legacy he started as the lead guitarist in seminal (but short-lived) band the Smiths — as each record has showcased some strong songwriting and passionate guitar playing.

Today, his third album, Call the Comet, was released, and continues right where the first two records left off. Marr previewed the album in recent weeks with tracks like “Hi Hello” and “The Tracers,” solid songs that pack an emotional weight to them. The same can be said for the album as a whole, which has a sense of urgency to it that will no doubt resonate with fans and spark many repeat listens.
