Buddy Guy Would Like You To Know ‘The Blues Is Alive And Well’ (New Music Friday)

At 81, Buddy Guy has seen some things over the course of his life and career as one of blues’ most revered figures — and today, he released a triumphant album titled The Blues Is Alive And Well.

The statement made by its title alone is enough to raise an eyebrow and commend Guy’s confidence, and the music (with many songs produced and written by Guy’s longtime collaborator, Tom Hambridge, follows suit.

In recent weeks, the album was previewed with songs featuring special guests like Keith Richards and Jeff Beck (on “Cognac”) and James Bay (“Blue No More”). The album also features a cut with Mick Jagger, as well.
