These days, cryptic social media campaigns seem quite effective when it’s time to drop some major news — so it’s all the more intriguing to speculate just what Sir Paul McCartney‘s recent social media posts are all about.
Over the weekend, Macca’s Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages were updated with a simple black-and-white drawing that looks like this:
— Paul McCartney (@PaulMcCartney) June 10, 2018
His Instagram page, which boasts 1.8 million followers, was completely wiped clean of all content, save for the above image and two totally blank white images.
If this proves itself to be tied to an impending new album release (something he hinted at back in January) or something of that nature, the timing would make sense: McCartney will turn 76 years old on June 18. His most recent studio album, New, came out in 2013, so it has been a while.
Additionally, Sir Paul was spotted recently in Liverpool with James Corden, where he played a secret gig at Liverpool’s Philharmonic pub/bar and, rumors contend, recorded an episode of Corden’s Carpool Karaoke bit, too.
Just what is Sir Paul up to? We’ll probably find out sooner rather than later…
