Happy 70th Birthday to John Oates!

Happy 70th Birthday to John Oates!

Being one-half of a celebrated pop duo taking up residence in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earns you a special birthday shout-out — so happy birthday, John Oates!

Today, Oates celebrates his 70th birthday. In a few months, he and Daryl Hall will hit the road once again for a summer tour with Train on an outing that is sure to be as crowd-pleasing as they get.

To hype the tour, they actually recorded a new song together, “Philly Forget Me Not,” which pays homage to their musical heroes and is really just an extremely fun jam:

Oates also recently sat with Rock Cellar’s Ken Sharp at the world famous Troubadour in Hollywood for one of our RockCellarTV installments — about Hall and Oates’ work, of course, but also a lot of discussion of his new solo album, Arkansas:

Oates has always been kind to Rock Cellar, spending time chatting with us time and time again — so from us to you, John, happy birthday! Have a great tour this summer.

My all-time favorite John Oates song 8s easily “How Does It Feel To Be Back” from 1980’s “Voices” album.
