Ringo Starr was Knighted by Prince William, Joining Paul McCartney in the Knighthood

The man born Richard Starkey is now a Sir. Ringo Starr wasย knighted by Prince William.

On Tuesday, the Beatles drummer (who spoke exclusively with us for a RockCellarTV episode a few months back) was honored at Buckingham Palace, earning a title bestowed upon him by the Duke of Cambridge.

Ringo’s knighthood comes 21 years after that of his friend and fellow Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney.

Ringo, ever humble, cracked to reporters that he isn’t yet sure if he’ll be comfortable being called a Sir:

“I don’t know yet. It’s new and I don’t know how you use it properly.”

As quoted by the BBC, Ringo also joked that he’ll wear his medal at breakfast each morning.

Congrats to Sir Ringo, even if he’s not yet used to the new title!
