Watch David Byrne’s Video for ‘Everybody’s Coming to My House,’ Featuring the Detroit School of Arts Vocal Jazz Ensemble

The lead single from David Byrne‘s new album American Utopia, which came out last Friday, March 9, is “Everybody’s Coming To My House,” an odd little song that represents the album’s eclecticism quite well.

For the song’s official music video, Byrne enlisted the help of students from the Detroit School of Arts Vocal Jazz Ensemble, who crafted a unique rendition of the song with the aid of their music instructor. Here’s the clip:

Said Byrne of the experience working with the students:

“When I saw what the DSA students did with my song, it completely changed the way I thought of it. In fact, it changed the meaning of the song—I realized it was about inclusion, welcoming, and not being alone. It’s a more generous interpretation of the song than what I do with my voice. We ARE all in the same house—if we want to be. Just goes to show how a song can change (radically!) depending on who is singing it.”
