Rest in Peace, Pat Torpey of Mr. Big: 1953-2018

On Thursday, it was announced that Pat Torpey of Mr. Big has passed away.

A statement from the band’s representatives:

Drummer and founding member of MR. BIG, Pat Torpey, passed away Wednesday, February 7 at the age of 64 from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Family, band and management request privacy at this very difficult time. Services are pending.

Torpey contributed to Mr. Big’s latest studio album, Defying Gravity, which was released last year.

Torpey formed Mr. Big in 1988 with Billy Sheehan, Eric Martin and Paul Gilbert.

    Mr. Big; Kind of like The Sweet of the late 80’s and early 90’s, as in everyone in the band including the drummer, provided vocals. And Pat was right up there with[the late great} Mick Tucker as far as drumming abilities.

    such a sad time. he was a great drummer from beginning to the end and i’m glad we saw him on the last mr big tour.
