Buzz: Did Liam and Noel Gallagher Make Amends, Finally?

The creative partnership and rivalry between Liam and Noel Gallagher was a central reason for Oasis’ dissolution a few years back. Their brotherly feuding was the stuff of legend throughout the 1990s, and it more or less helped Oasis become one of the biggest Britpop acts ever.

The jabs have continued after Oasis called it quits thanks to social media, where Liam infamously called Noel a “potato,” among other outbursts, with hopes of the pair making up and getting back to business with Oasis seeming little more than a dream.

But now, Liam has fueled more online buzz with a single tweet and a few follow-up messages posted on Twitter on Tuesday night:

And with a tweet, it was all over. Or not. Who can say, really? The posturing of both Gallaghers never ends, so we’ll have to wait and see. For what it’s worth, both of them are reveling in the success of recent solo albums. Liam’s As You Were was released in October to strong sales, as was Noel’s Who Built the Moon?, which was released in late November.

In Rock Cellar’s recent interview with Liam, he didn’t really address the issue of burying the hatchet with Noel, though he did poke fun at Noel’s concept album idea:

So is he open to making an experimental album, along the lines of his brother’s recently-teased forthcoming release Who Built the Moon?

“No!” Gallagher says, with a hearty laugh. “God no.”

And, just this month, Noel was featured in a new piece as remaining resistant to the idea of any make-ups with Liam and Oasis. But if there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years with these two, it’s that anything can change pretty much whenever they feel like it.

So stay tuned…
