Out Now: Evanescence Return with Powerful Orchestral/Electronic New Album, ‘Synthesis’ (Listen)

The music of Evanescence has always skewed toward the theatrical — after all, band leader/central force Amy Lee has a voice perfectly suited for it.

Their emergence in the early 2000s, largely thanks to their breakout single “Bring Me to Life,” blended the styles of the time (rap/rock or “nu-metal”) with the operatic, and it’s carried over again on their new album, Synthesis.

Featuring reimagined songs from the band’s back catalog re-done this time with a full orchestra and electronic flourishes, as well as a handful of new songs, Synthesis is a powerful, dramatic listen. The band has been touring over the past few weeks in support of the album with a live show that’s earned strong reviews.
