Over the weekend, the Foo Fighters-curated CalJam 2017 rock music festival took place in San Bernardino California. We’ll pass along a ton of great photos from what proved to be a spectacular day of music, but some things the Foos did during their headlining set warrant special mention.
Particularly: after unveiling some sound check videos with none other than Rick Astley of “Never Gonna Give You Up” fame, Dave Grohl and the guys welcomed him onstage for a cover of the classic ’80s hit — in a style that touches on Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” no less! Amazing:
Toward the encore, the Foos also welcomed another guest, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry for a cover of the Aerosmith classic “Draw the Line”:
And the Beatles’ “Come Together,” which also included Liam Gallagher (who played a solo set earlier in the day):
And while the Foo Fighters didn’t cover “Breakdown” as a tribute to Tom Petty, they did dedicate “My Hero” to the late, great songwriting legend:
The Foos definitely know how to throw a party.
