‘Celebrating David Bowie’ Live Tour on Tap for 2018; Adrian Belew and Mike Garson Among Participants

Last year, a few shows around the world billed as ‘Celebrating David Bowie‘ did just that, convening to perform some of the unforgettable music from the music and cultural icon, who passed away in January 2016.

Those shows were so successful that the project has since been expanded into a tour that will take place in early 2018 in the United States and the U.K. Helmed by Mike Garson, longtime keyboardist and touring musician for Bowie, the tour will also feature iconic guitarist/vocalist Adrian Belew (of King Crimson, Bowie and other acts) and guitarist Gerry Leonard. Combined, that trio boasts more than 30 years of experience touring, recording and just generally being around Bowie.

The tour will also feature “Bowie’s Let’s Dance/Serious Moonlight Tour bassist Carmine Rojas as well as CdB 2017 standouts Fishbone‘s Angelo Moore and 2017 Grammy Nominee Gaby Moreno as well as special guests and other former Bowie band members who will make surprise appearances along the way.”

An audio/visual spectacle, the tour will feature a large ensemble of musicians tackling all facets of Bowie’s career — from music to fashion and everything in between.

I have worked with over 1000 singers but never anyone like David,” shares Mike Garson. “He had an infinite source of music flowing through him, and his creativity was boundless. His sharing of the stage with his musicians was extraordinary, and he was a team player. That is why we need many singers to encompass his work.

Added Belew:

“With such a large catalog to choose from, different songs affected us and the audience in varying measure,” adds Adrian Belew about the shows earlier this year. “It’s always amazing to feel the excitement of an audience beamed directly at you. Pure adrenaline! So much love for David.”
