Poco’s Rusty Young Preparing Solo Album ‘Waitin’ for the Sun,’ Ft. Timothy B. Schmit, George Grantham and More

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Rusty Young, who rose to fame as one of the principal members of the seminal band Poco (which also featured Richie Furay, Timothy B. Schmit, Richie Furay, Jim Messina and many other prominent Southern California musicians) back in the 1960s.

But he’s been quietly working on new music, and will release a new solo record titled Waitin’ on the Sun on September 15 via Blue Elan Records.

Said Young of the album on his official site:

It’s been a long time coming and now the time is finally here to pre-order my solo album – Waitin’ for the Sun. There are plenty of options available exclusively at the Blue Élan Store where you’ll receive 4 instant downloads from the album via Email. The best musicians I know- Jack Sundrud, Michael Webb and Rick Lonow gave it the Poco sound we all love. In addition, my friends Richie Furay, Timothy B. Schmit, Jim Messina and George Grantham helped me make the music even more special. – Rusty

Preview the record with a song called “My Friend” below:

So terrific to hear a track from Rusty Young’s new solo album…it promises to be superb, based on what we’ve heard from him over the past half century and his dedication to great songwriting, soaring harmonies and the best steel guitar around—ever!

I can’t wait until my tee-shirt and CD arrive. Thanks, Rusty…Keep the faith!
