Drummer Stewart Copeland keeps busy these days. In addition to speaking engagements at the NAMM Show and innovative, experimental tours with classical musicians, he also frequently hosts jam sessions with his musical pals at his Sacred Grove recording studio.
His most recent jam – featuring Neil Peart of Rush, Danny Carey of Tool, South Park co-creator Matt Stone and Matt Scannell of Vertical Horizon – was especially fun. Apparently, Copeland had some new drum kits in need of “trying out”, so why not ask some of the biggest & best drummers around?
What resulted was this video seen below, called “A Little More Noise”:
More about that encounter, from Copeland’s video description:
Some new drums arrived so Peart and Carey came over to lay heavy hands upon them. Scannell and I banged out any old riffs while Stone chimed the gongs.
Couple days later four MORE drummers dropped by and took up the horns. The piano was an afterthought.
This is just the latest in a series of ongoing videos from Copeland documenting the star-studded and off-the-cuff jams that go on at his studio. He frequently puts new videos up on his YouTube channel, so check that out if you’re so inclined.
