Camo, safely back home.
Camo, safely back home.

Back in December, one little cat went on quite an epic (and dangerous) journey.

It all started when Portland, Oregon man Roy Dufek sold one of his girlfriend Haley Crews’ extra beds as a surprise. Little did he know, though, that her cat Camo likes to hide inside bed springs when he’s frightened.

Sure enough, somebody had arranged to buy the extra bed – and strapped it atop their vehicle (with Camo inside!). What followed was a 6-7 mile journey from Dufek’s girlfriend’s apartment to the home of the new buyer and an absolutely frantic, desperate search for Camo.

Eventually, the Oregonian reports, Crews and Camo were reunited after the cat was detained by a makeshift trap set near the Hillsboro Airport, where somebody had reported seeing a cat matching Camo’s description.

From the Oregonian:

Dufek said Camo had lost about two pounds and was a mess. He had a cut lip, several broken nails, bleeding paws and a partially closed eye but no serious injuries.

Let that be a lesson to everybody out there: make sure your beloved pet isn’t hiding inside a bed spring when you sell it to a stranger!
