54-year old Robbie Stanford is in the final stages of leukemia, and always had a dream to take his children to a game.

Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Clippers helped Stanford realize that dream, being treated to the team’s Friday night game and, for good measure, meeting the guys as well.

Stanford’s done a lot for cancer patients in his own right: faced with the difficulty of finding a flexible child care option for their children while Stanford dealt with chemotherapy, he and his wife Jade founded the Village Tree Pre School in Culver City, California, the only daycare in the United States that offers free services to children with chronically sick parents.

Said Jamal Crawford of the Clippers, about Stanford and his special day:

“He’s inspiring to us, he really is. It puts everything into perspective.”
