The concepts of sportsmanship and “having fun” are often lost as far as major league sports are concerned. Sometimes, the stress and pressure of even the Little League World Series can takes its toll on the players, as expectation and anxiety fall on the kids’ young shoulders.
Enter manager David Belisle, who guided Cumberland American to a long LLWS run that came to an end recently. After losing a tight game, 8-7, to Jackie Robinson West of Chicago, their World Series dream was over. Rather than allow his kids to sulk and live in the devastation of such a loss, however, Belisle delivered a motivational speech that has since gone viral – and is a shining exmaple of the kinds of positive thinking and level-headedness that sports needs.
