Hear Joan Osborne’s Lively Cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘Tangled Up in Blue’; Tribute Album Out 9/1

Written by: Rock Cellar Magazine Staff

Grammy-nominee Joan Osborne spent a lot of time in the studio paying tribute to the timeless work of Bob Dylan, and on September 1 her covers record, Songs of Bob Dylan, will be released.

It was previewed recently with her take on Dylan’s classic “High Water,” and now she’s released another re-imagining of a Dylan track. Below, listen to her lively take on “Tangled Up in Blue”:

Said Osborne of this particular song:

“We ended up listening to Dusty Springfield’s ‘Dusty in Memphis’, some of the classic Memphis recordings of that time, to see if we could flavour the Dylan song with some of that stuff. It’s a very lengthy song, and that’s why people tend to do it at this rapid-fire pace, to get this epic story out there, but I wanted something that would put a different spin on it. I wanted to give it a more feminist spin, a different kind of energy.”
