Per TMZ, Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington committed suicide this morning at the age of 41.
According to the report, Bennington was found hanging at a private residence in Southern California Thursday morning.
Linkin Park had just released a new studio album, One More Light, and were about to head out on a global tour in support of it.
Needless to say, this is a massive loss for the rock community, and it comes on what would have been Chris Cornell’s 53rd birthday. Cornell committed suicide in May. Bennington, a friend of Cornell’s, sang at his Hollywood memorial service.
Linkin Park’s other vocalist, Mike Shinoda, issued a brief statement after the news was out:
Shocked and heartbroken, but it's true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.
