Kid Rock Premieres ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’ and ‘Po-Dunk’ Music Videos Amid Furor Over Potential Senate Run – Watch

It’s been a busy week for Kid Rock. The 46-year old made headlines all over the sphere for his new United States Senate run rumors and corresponding campaign website – and now he’s added some new music to the fray, too.

Two music videos materialized on Friday for two disparate songs that basically summarize his career: “The Greatest Show on Earth” is a raucous, guitar-driven romp with Kid’s raps layered into the mix, and its video showcases highlights of his live concert performances from over the years.

The second, “Po-Dunk,” features a more country-fied approach, which of course was the angle that allowed Kid Rock to remain a prominent music figure after moving away from the rap/rock that exemplified his breakout album Devil Without a Cause. Oh, and the video features models in bikinis and pregnant women in underwear smoking, as well as more defiant, in-your-face lyrical phrasing from the man born R.J. Ritchie:

Of course, word of Kid Rock’s Senate intentions were met with skepticism, especially when somebody figured out that clicking on the merchandise on his site redirected to his page on Warner Bros. Records … is this all a stunt for a new album? He chimed in with this message on Thursday on his website:

Once again the press is wrong. First of all, I’ve got 15 days from my announcement to file paperwork with the FEC! Second, I’m not signed to Warner Bros!!! – which simple fact-checking would have revealed. I have recently worked out a unique deal with BMG, Broken Bow, CAA and Live Nation to release music ON MY TERMS. Like politicians write books during their campaigns, I’m planning on putting out music during mine and IT ALL STARTS TONIGHT AT MIDNIGHT. It’s not a hoax, it’s a strategy and marketing 101! No plans for an album or anything else that has been the usual norm in the music business OR politics…..and…..

Senator Stabenow and I do share a love of music, although probably not the same kind. I concede she is better at playing politics than I am so I’ll keep doing what I do best, which is being a voice for tax paying, hardworking AMERICANS and letting politicians like her know that We the People are sick and tired of their bullshit!
