Legendary Kinks songwriter Ray Davies will release his new solo record, Americana, this Friday, April 21. Previewed already with the song “Poetry,” Americana definitely sounds as if it’ll be a poignant record from Davies, thematically. It’s his first solo album since 2008’s Working Man’s Cafe.
The album contains the same general tone as Davies’ recent book, Americana: The Kinks, the Riff, the Road: The Story, and features background musical accompaniment from the Jayhawks. The album’s release comes shortly after Davies’ brother, Dave Davies, released his own new album (with his son, Russ), back in March.
