Stream Sufjan Stevens’ New Album ‘Carrie & Lowell’ (Audio)

Carrie & Lowell, the anticipated new album from eclectic singer/songwriter Sufjan Stevens, is now streaming over at NPR.

Stevens has shown a knack for whimsical song structures throughout his shape-shifting career, but Carrie & Lowell concerns itself with one overarching theme: loss and the impermanence of life.

As NPR points out, Stevens lost his mother in 2012, and as a result the album (named after his parents) carries with it themes of love, life, and, ultimately, death.

Stevens will begin a North American tour in support of the album soon. The dates:
