One of the biggest events of the NAMM Show weekend is the annual TEC Awards. This past weekend, iconic guitarist Slash was the guest of honor, following in the footsteps of 2014 recipient Todd Rundgren.

Slash was one of a few honorees on the night, as Ed Cherney and Nathan East were both inducted into the NAMM TEC Hall of Fame. Slash, meanwhile, received the night’s most prestigious honor: the Les Paul Award.

NAMM president/CEO Joe Lamond said of the TEC Awards:

The people and products that were nominated at this year’s TEC Awards, especially on this milestone 30th anniversary, deserve our respect and admiration.

And those select few who have gone home with a coveted TEC Award have set a high bar for the industry. These are the tools and sounds that will shape the music we will be listening to for years to come.

The exclusive event was a star-studded affair (as is custom for all NAMM events), and featured the following as special guest presenters:

  • Michael Braunstein (Executive Director, Les Paul Foundation)
  • Don Was (legendary producer/musician)
  • Bernie Williams (New York Yankee-turned-guitarist)
  • Orianthi (guitarist)
  • Richie Sambora (guitarist)
  • Jeff ‘Skunk’ Baxter (guitarist)
  • Franke Serafine (composer/sound effects designer)

and more.
