When you talk about the band Guided By Voices a few things generally come to mind:
#1 Masters of economy: Most of their pop gems clock in at under 3 minutes, many under 2:00.
#2 GBV band members are renowned for chain-smoking while performing.
#3 Their lack of mainstream success was far overshadowed by how many bands cite them as an influence.
and perhaps most notably…
#4 They were prolific as hell, almost to a fault. Leader Robert Pollard has penned over 1,000 GBV songs since the band first hit the scene in 1983, leaving even the most hardcore of fans woozy from trying to keep up.
Well, as we told you early this year, GBV fully reformed this year and again show no signs of letting up on their massive output of recordings. Not content to toss out a finely-tuned distillation of material to announce their reunion, no, today they release yet another comeback album - Class Clown Spots a UFO – 21 more power-poppetizers.

True to form, this record’s 21 tracks only take up 39:54. (We’ll do the math for you; that averages 1:54 each.)
Even better, Rock Cellar Magazine has learned that the GBV boys have ANOTHER record due in November (The Bears for Lunch), which would make it 3 in a calendar year, so there will be a lot of listening to do, folks. Without further ado, here’s some music for you:
Two tracks off the new album: Keep it in Motion, and the title track. (Shins – are you paying attention…?)
