Itching to hear Aerosmith’s new single?

According to guitarist Joe Perry, the band will premiere the new tune during the season finale of Steven Tyler’s “other job”, American Idol, which is scheduled for May 23rd on FOX.

If you recall, the band’s hotly-anticipated new album has been pushed back to a fall release, and is tentatively expected out sometime in September.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, Perry did express that he and the band have been feeling the pressure of delivering what many are expecting to be a solid album:

“The pressure for this to be what everyone hopes it’s going to be is enormous and I’m starting to feel a little bit of that heat. We’ve talked about doing a new record and it’s kind of like the boy crying wolf the last bunch of years…I just have to wipe out all the expectations that everybody has because we’ve always done every record on its own, taking its own place, not looking at it in the context of the last record or the next record or whatever is going on in the world or whatever.”

Pressure or not, they seem to be nearing the final stretch of the album’s recording process, so we’ll have to wait until May 23rd to see just what they’ve been up to these past few months.
