Sad news to report for fans of the Beastie Boys – Adam Yauch has passed away at the age of 47.
It is unclear if Yauch (a.k.a. MCA) passed away due to complications from his 2009 cancer diagnosis, although he had been going through treatment since then.
Global Grind broke the news, and then Rolling Stone confirmed it, meaning that this isn’t another Internet hoax – it’s the real deal.
And it’s a sad one, especially for fans of the Beastie Boys. All signs were indicating that Yauch was making progress at beating cancer, so his passing comes as somewhat of a total shock.
We at RCM extend our sympathies to Yauch’s family and friends, Mike Diamond, Ad–Rock (Adam Horovitz), and Beastie Boys fans everywhere.
