
The 2,466th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame now belongs to: The Muppets.
These internationally-loved “not quite mop, not quite puppet” (thank you Homer Simpson) characters that have brought decades of smiles to children and adults alike have now joined the ranks of Bugs Bunny and Godzilla.
Okay, and Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra….
Kermit, Big Bird and Miss Piggy had already been immortalized individually on Hollywood Blvd, but it was about time the rest of gang received the honor as well.
Lisa Henson, CEO of the Jim Henson Company and daughter of the famous creator, and numerous Muppets were all there at the “Wocka Wocka” ceremony in front of the El Capitan Theatre.
“We are all thrilled to be here today so that the Hollywood Walk of Fame people can honor all of the Muppets,” Kermit said –interrupted of course by Miss Piggy:
“Wait a second, I thought they were honoring moi!”
The 2011 film The Muppets, written and starred in by Jason Segel, is available today on DVD and Blu-ray.
