Martin Guitar has teamed up with Wilco’s frontman to create a special limited edition Jeff Tweedy acoustic.
In an informal interview, Tweedy’s talks about his first guitar, his first Martin, Woody Guthrie, and Wilco’s latest record The Whole Love.
The Custom Artist Edition 00-DB will be built for only two years, and each instrument will be numbered and signed by Tweedy himself.
It has been such a privilege to work with Martin to design this guitar. The shape and the aesthetic are based largely on my favorite go-to Martins that I have been using for years to write and record music. It is a huge honor to have my name associated with an instrument of this caliber.
It’s a traditional 14 fret 00 size guitar, but with a deeper body and fuller sound. It sports a vintage-looking red mahogany top, and is proclaimed to be the first FSC (Forest Stewardship Council-certified “eco friendly” guitar Martin has ever made with an artist. It will be unveiled this week in Frankfurt, Germany.
No word on how much this baby costs, or if it’s 100% organic and in a pinch, edible.
Rock Cellar Magazine contributing photographer Zoran Orlic was on hand to produce this great interview with Tweedy and Martin Guitar:
