In the continuing theme of coverage from Austin’s SXSW Festival:

Tying in nicely with many of the inspirations The Boss mentioned yesterday in his keynote speech, last night there was a bit of an explosion of talent on stage during his show at the Moody Theater.

Tom Morello, gospel singer Michelle Moore, and raggae master Jimmy Cliff were all invited to join the E Street Band for a few tunes.

Eric Burdon of the Animals, who Bruce specifically joked about stealing riffs from, lent his growl to performances of We Gotta Get Out of This Place and Woody Guthrie’s This Land is Your Land.

It seems like half of Texas was brought on for the latter, as additional special guests included Joe Ely, Alejando Escovedo, indie band The Low Anthem, and three members of Arcade Fire. This is the best kind of madness.

Check out the video – Tom Morello (clad in a Willie Nelson shirt and his ever-present baseball cap) sings an impassioned verse, but the most touching moment is the smile shared by Bruce and Eric Burdon. It is possibly only topped by the riled crowd’s reaction:
