UPDATE: Check out the album’s artwork above, as revealed by Ms. Apple minutes ago.
It looks like those Twitter rumors from January were accurate after all.
Fiona Apple will release a new album in late June, her first since 2005′s Extraordinary Machine.
Its name? The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do.
Yep.
To celebrate the news and ramp up expectation for it (as if that was necessary, considering how much of a big deal it is when she does anything), Apple will appear at next week’s South By Southwest Festival at Pitchfork’s showcase event, before playing a small string of headlining dates on the East Coast.
Welcome back, Fiona.
