Talk about a party.

As previously mentioned, Bay Area rock icons Metallica held a week-long 30th Anniversary celebration of themselves at the Fillmore in San Francisco last week. They hosted and played four special, fanclub-only shows leading up to the final party on Saturday night.

Over the course of the shows, Metallica celebrated thirty years with a jaw-dropping list of special guests:

Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, Jerry Cantrell, Glenn Danzig, Rob Halford, former bassist Jason Newstead, members of Mercyful Fate, Pepper Keenan of Down, Faith No More’s Jim Martin, and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Gary Rossington, just to name a few.

Most of those musicians joined the band for a rendition of Skynyrd’s classic Tuesday’s Gone. Watch the video and hear some heavy metal storytelling:

But the biggest surprise was revealed on Saturday night – Dave Mustaine of Megadeth joined Metallica for some songs, including five from Kill ‘Em All, the group’s debut album that featured the red-haired guitarist, before he was kicked out of the band in favor of Kirk Hammett.

For Metallica fans, that was a HUGE shock – Mustaine hasn’t shared the stage with Metallica in a full-on reunion performance EVER. They ripped through songs like Phantom Lord, whose performance you can view below:

Osbourne and Butler of Black Sabbath teamed up with ‘Tallica for performances of Iron Man and Paranoid:

In addition to all this special guest fun and rarely-played songs, Metallica also premiered four unreleased songs from the sessions for 2008′s Death Magnetic album. Hate Train, Hell and Back, Just a Bullet Away and Rebel of Babylon are expected to be released in some form soon. Watch the band run through Rebel below.
